One Travel Photo — Two Looks

Posted by on Aug 15, 2012 in Featured, Prague Sandbox, Sandbox Photography, Uncategorized | 10 comments

Okay some people looking at these two photos might say these are flower photos, not travel. Well, yes and no. I took the shots when I was in Prague (you’ll have to take my word on this), so I think maybe they are traveling flowers. Now I’m just being silly. Whatever they are, I did take the original shot in Prague.

What I want to show you is how a little bit of Photoshop can noticeably change a photo. I recently bought Photoshop Elements 10, which is a huge leap from my Elements 6. Now, I don’t do a huge amount of post processing, usually just cropping and bumping up the color if needed. However, sometimes it is fun to fool around.

The original shot from the camera…NO PROCESSING.

I like both versions, but do prefer one over the other. Do you have a preference?

___

What did I do you ask?

Well, in Photoshop Elements 10 you can do quick/processing editing directly from the organizer, and with the click of a few buttons. The nice thing is, you see the changes immediately, and if you don’t like what you see you can revert your photo back to the original. I edited this shot in under one minute.

Which buttons did I press, you ask? First…Auto Smart Fix; Second…Auto Color; Third…Improved Tonal Range ; Fourth… Auto Contras; Fifth…Enhance Details
.

For me this a quick, fun way to see what a photo will look like with a bit of post processing.

Do you edit your photos, or publish straight from the camera?

If you are ever in Prague in the spring or summer, don’t miss all the lovely flowers in bloom around the Prague Castle area. The Royal Gardens (free to enter) are particularly nice.

Through the Sandbox Lens #47 — Sunset on the Danube

Posted by on Jul 9, 2012 in Prague Sandbox, Through the Sandbox Lens | 4 comments

Despite the record breaking temperatures (the city was the second hottest in the world earlier this week), I am loving Budapest. This is the first nice sunset I have had since arriving in Europe. The weather in Prague has been quite good, but by early evening it has usually been raining. This shot makes me smile. Of course, anyone coming to Budapest looking for the sunset…walk straight to the riverside and on a sunny evening you won’t be disappointed!

If you have time, click on the photo to enjoy a the larger version…

Through The Sandbox Lens #46 — Serenity Through the Arches at Prague Castle

Prague Castle always seems to be humming with people. When I found this little “sea of calm” I smiled and breathed. Isn’t it lovely? The funny thing is, when I walked through the arches I found a big parking lot on the right; who would have thought? 🙂

Travel Photo Thursday — July 5th, 2012 — The Eyes of Prague

Posted by on Jul 5, 2012 in Prague Sandbox, Travel Photo Thursday, Uncategorized | 22 comments

Welcome to another week of  Travel Photo Thursday. I can’t believe I’ve been in Prague for over a week! From walking the Charles Bridge to hearing Mozart’s Giovanni at the Estates Theater, I’m enjoying every moment. The camera has also been doing its thing; in fact it’s working overtime. Today’s choices were not easy. I finally decided to share with you a few of  many beautiful and interesting windows that I’ve admired and photographed as I’ve walked through this intriguing city. They’ve “turned on” my imagination.

For those of you who missed last week’s Travel Photo Thursday, Prague — First Glimpses.

To join in the Travel Photo Thursday fun simply post a photo on your blog. Return here and place your link in the Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post.

Please post a link to a post featuring a travel photo, not simply a link to your blog.

…The body cage…especially made for bad tourists! 🙂

You’ll find this in Golden Lane at Prague Castle. Can you imagine this as your hotel room for the night, especially if you were strapped in “the skeleton”?

Through the Sandbox Lens #44 — Roof Tops and Steeples from Prague’s Charles Bridge

Posted by on Jul 2, 2012 in Prague Sandbox, Through the Sandbox Lens, Uncategorized | 2 comments

Last night I ventured out with my Tripod to try an catch the sunset on Prague’s Charles Bridge. Sadly, no sunset, but still a pretty evening. The bridge was crowded, but the crowds had thinned out from earlier in the day. There were a number of excellent street performers playing some great music to add to the mood.
