Thailand: Chiang Mai Flowers

Chiang Mai Flowers

Chiang Mai flowers have often beckoned me to spend time in Thailand’s second largest city during January and February. Welcome to week 359 (2/15/2018) of Travel Photo Thursday. Apologies that I haven’t been around much lately. Since returning to Canada, I’ve been experiencing a lot of migraine headaches. Last week was particularly bad. Haven’t found a reason for them yet, and when one decides to pay a visit I limit my time on the computer. January and February are the best months to enjoy Chiang Mai flowers. Here are some of my favourite photos from over the years.

Wat Ket Karam

I love orchids and if you want to see them growing in trees, Chiang Mai is the place. My favourite place to enjoy these magnificent blossoms is at Wat Ket Karam (also known as the Dog Temple). Located across the Nawarat Bridge, it’s an easy stroll from downtown Chiang Mai. If walking isn’t your idea of fun, make your way on a Tuk-Tuk or songthaew. Most of the Buddhist temples are open from sunrise to sunset.

Beach Travel Memories on a Cold Winter Day

Posted by on Jan 19, 2018 in Destinations, Malaysia, Portugal, Thailand, Travel Photo Thursday | 7 comments

Today as I was freeing my car from “snow bank” jail all I could dream about was a white sand beach glistening with heat.  That brought me to scanning through beach photo archives and sharing my favourites today. Not as good as being there, but beach memories are always fun. Welcome to week 356 (1/18/2018) of Travel Photo Thursday.

South East Asia Beaches

If you want fun in the sun any time of the year, then you need to head to South East Asia. I’ve spent more than a few December and January days on the beach in Hua Hin. The town is an easy two hours out of Bangkok, and getting there is super easy. Choices include bus (directly from the airport), taxi (not that expensive), or the train (nothing fancy but a great way to meet the locals. For me, Hua Hin is all about the beach and the food (usually eaten on the beach).

Merry Christmas From Travel Photo Thursday

Posted by on Dec 22, 2016 in Bangkok, Hua Hin, Korea, Thailand, Travel Photo Thursday | 16 comments

Wherever you are in the world, this week I want to wish you and yours the best of the holiday season. Welcome to week 307 (22/12/2016) of Travel Photo Thursday. Who says that Asia doesn’t do Christmas? When I arrived almost 16 years ago, that was the case. These days, throughout Asia, you’ll find beautiful lights and displays celebrating the season. Enjoy a few of the photos that I have taken from Christmas’s past.

We’re pretty easy going here at BTS, but please remember to follow a few guidelines.

Bangkok’s Emporium knows how to dress for Christmas. The picture perfect trees change colors as the Christmas music plays. With the temps hovering close to 30C you need to pinch yourself to convince yourself that it is Christmas (or at least I do!)

Best of Thailand

Enjoy the best of Thailand for week 305 (07/12/2016) of Travel Photo Thursday. Since I’m probably not traveling out of the country this winter I decided to do a walk down memory lane this week.  I’ve spent a lot of winters in Thailand over the years and here are a few of my best of Thailand posts from over the years.

Taste of Thailand Food Tours

From dining on the street to 5-star restaurants food is synonymous with Thailand and each area of the country boasts their specialties. Often the best way to experience the best of Thailand and the great flavors of Thai food is to take a food tour. Taste of Thailand Food Tours offers both full morning and evening tours. I chose the morning and sampled everything from street cart curry puffs and fried bananas to curry made for the royal family. You can drool over the food here.

Instagram Favorites from the Past Year

Welcome to week 256 of Travel Photo Thursday (11/26/2015), and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating the holiday.  I recently read an article about how if you wanted to get noticed and followed on Instagram that you shouldn’t post Iphone photos.  I laughed and rolled my eyes. The very thing I like about Instagram is that it’s instant. I tweak my shots a little with the tools available on the app, but that’s it. I really am a true Instagrammer. This week I’m featuring some of my favorite shots taken with my trusty Iphone 4S (yep, I have not upgraded), and posted, yes you guessed right, INSTANTLY 🙂
