A view of the city from Kampa Island, easily accessible via the Charles Bridge.  Located in Prague’s Mala Strana neighborhood, it’s been recognized as one of the most beautiful islands in the world. From world class museums, restaurants and lovely walks and views there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Windows around the World

Windows

Windows and doors are favorite photo ops when I’m traveling, and I know I’m not alone. Welcome to Week 280 (6/2/2106) of Travel Photo Thursday. The end of the semester will dominate the next few weeks, so little time for anything else. This post will not be particularly wordy. I think that the beautiful windows speak for themselves. Enjoy!

We’re pretty easy going here at BTS, but please remember to follow a few guidelines…

To join in the Travel Photo Thursday fun simply post a photo on your blog.

I loved the windows in Prague and managed to come away with several beautiful shots. These two I took in the Old Town, where it’s next to impossible to walk more than 30 seconds without taking a photo or two.

Gorgeous symmetry! Prague is also really big on window boxes with lots of lovely details.

Welcome! It’s week 258 (12/10/2015)  of Travel Photo Thursday, and exactly 2 weeks until I am off to Europe. I am beyond excited. My photos this week will leave no doubt as to why! If you missed last week’s Travel Photo Thursday, here it is.

Definitely, the olives! These beauties were served to me at a bar in Seville, Spain. They came with a bowl of potato chips. When the bartender asked if I wanted more, I said “more olives please, hold the potato chips”! I have vowed that I  would move to Europe just for the olives!

Prague and Budapest Memories

Posted by on Nov 19, 2015 in Budapest, Czech - Prague, Destinations, Featured, Hungary, Travel Photo Thursday | 37 comments

Welcome to week 255 of Travel Photo Thursday (11/19/2015). If you missed last weeks octopus eating adventures, they’re just a click away.  I think most of us are walking around with heavy hearts this week, trying to absorb and make some sense (as if that’s possible) of the atrocities and innocent lives lost this past week. My love affair with Europe began when I was 17 years old, plying the Mediterranean on a cruise ship giving many Canadian school kids their first taste of the rich history, and the ambiance that is so prevalent throughout that part of the world. Since moving to Asia in 2000, I have spent more time traveling the countries surrounding Korea.  I love Asia, and always will, but I have never left my heart in Asia as I have so often in Europe.  I have been fortunate enough to spend some time in Europe over the last few years, primarily Spain, Czech, and a peek of Budapest  thrown in. In a few weeks I’ll be  in Barcelona and Portugal. This week I share with you a few Prague and Budapest memories.

Budapest was a side trip from Prague, and I loved every moment. I hope one of these days to return and spend some time getting to know both the city and country a little bit more. I am anxious to explore the Hungarian vineyards.

Stunning Water Photos from Around the World

Posted by on Oct 29, 2015 in Canada, Czech - Prague, Destinations, Malaysia, Nova Scotia, Thailand, Travel Photo Thursday | 49 comments

Welcome to week 252 of Travel Photo Thursday (10/29/2015), and my apologies for being so late this week. My students submitted their 5 paragraph essays this week, and I now have the never ending task (or so it seems) to mark each and everyone! I love water, and I know I’m not alone. I don’t hesitate to get up before the crack of dawn with the hope of capturing that perfect sunrise over the water photo. If it’s a sunset over the water, I’ll stay until the sun is only a memory. This week I’m sharing with you some of my favorite water photos from around the globe.

Here’s last week’s link-up, just in case you missed it!

Add your link and comment below. Guaranteed, magic will happen 🙂

I’ve taken some beautiful water shots in my own home province of Nova Scotia.

Stunning Peggy’s Cove; obviously taken looking way from the lighthouse towards the village.

Czech’s Karlovy Vary for Travel Back Saturday

Posted by on Dec 13, 2014 in Czech - Prague, Destinations, Featured, Karlovy Vary, Travel Back Saturday | 31 comments

If you’re visiting Prague, and want to wander further afield, I highly recommend that you visit Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad). This small city offers superb architecture, world class spa facilities, and some great restaurant choices. The city boast thirteen major hot springs’ along with some 300 smaller springs. Comfortable, reasonably priced, buses depart daily for the short trip between the two cities (slightly more than an hour). While it’s possible to do a day trip, if you want to enjoy a spa treatment, at least two days would be best. Have a peek of my favorite shots from my 2012 visit.
