Instagram Favorites from the Past Year

Last Updated on November 26, 2015 by Nancie

Welcome to week 256 of Travel Photo Thursday (11/26/2015), and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating the holiday.  I recently read an article about how if you wanted to get noticed and followed on Instagram that you shouldn’t post Iphone photos.  I laughed and rolled my eyes. The very thing I like about Instagram is that it’s instant. I tweak my shots a little with the tools available on the app, but that’s it. I really am a true Instagrammer. This week I’m featuring some of my favorite shots taken with my trusty Iphone 4S (yep, I have not upgraded), and posted, yes you guessed right, INSTANTLY 🙂

We’re pretty easy going here at BTS, but please remember to follow a few guidelines…

To join in the Travel Photo Thursday fun simply post a photo on your blog.

Return here and place your link in the Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post.

Please post a link to a post featuring a travel photo, not simply a link to your blog.

The Twitter hashtag for Travel Photo Thursday is #TPThursday.

Only one link per blog.

As a courtesy, please post a link to Budget Travelers Sandbox.

Finally, please leave a comment, and I do hope you’ll take the time to visit some of the other links.

Thailand’s amazing White Temple located a short drive from Chiang Rai. Many call it a tourist trap, but I always enjoy a short visit when I’m traveling through.

Chiang Mai’s oldest temple, dating from the 13th, Wat Chiang Man. I lived close by, and this became a favorite place for a peaceful sit down.

I miss the Friday Farmers Market in Chiang Mai. This was definitely one of the best salads I have ever eaten!

Of course, I can’t leave out the beautiful Indy. She had rough summer, but thankfully she’s doing great now! She is even chubby!

  1. Hi Nancie, I’m loving looking back at your favourite Instagrams for the year. What a good selection and all so different. Glad Indie is back on top of her game. They reminded me that I do want to visit Chiang Mai just to see it for myself. 10,000 monks in one room to start with! I hope we get to stay in Chiang Mai for a long time, but if not I’ll make sure I’m there on a Friday so I can eat that salad from the Organic Food Market – it looks amazing. I just noticed that I should only have one link in my blog post EEK!

    • Hi Jan. Chiang Mai is such a great place for an extended stay. The 10,000 monks is something to see. You’ll also get to listen to great music at the Friday market, and try the organic coffee!

  2. Good variety of photos! I recently started to be more active on Instagram and it has quickly become my favorite social media channel. It feels so good to look at your gallery and think about your past adventures. My handle is @tanama_tales.

    • Hi Ruth. I’m usually more active when I travel. Although, I try an post food pics anytime I eat out. Thanks for your lovely comments about my gallery. I will be sure to follow you, too!

    • Hi Marcia. Wat Chiang Man is one of my favorites in Chiang Mai. There are lots of places to sit, including a huge, ancient tree that shades the benches.

  3. You’ve gotten around quite a bit in 2015, haven’t you…
Love the Korean traditional dressews. And Indy, of course. 🙂

    • Hi Sophie. When I look at these photos it looks like I have gotten around a lot. Haven’t been on a plane since February. That feels like a long time! 🙂

  4. Fabulous mix of images looking back over your past year. The traditional dress is lovely, and that salad looks so delicious. I don’t do Instagram but it seems the thing these days. Happy travels. and have a great weekend ahead.

    • Hi Jill. Thank you, and it was fun looking through all of these photos. I like Instagram because I can post while I’m out and around. I don’t always have time once I get home, or it takes me a while to get to the photos 🙂

  5. Loved your photos – don’t care what you used to take them as they are great. (I wouldn’t know how to get an Instagram photo to my blog. And have to admit I have so few followers and so few ‘heart/likes’ that I sometimes wonder why I am spending time on Instagram. I follow others who have 100’s of followers and dozens of likes and think, “how DID they do that???”. Glad your fur-baby is doing well!

    • Hi Jackie. Thanks for the kind words. I didn’t know how to get the photos to my blog either, until I decided to do this post. It was quite easy once I figured it out. With Instagram it seems like you just have to keep following people and posting photographs. I don’t post that much when I’m not traveling. When I travel I do enjoy showing people were I am at that very moment! 🙂

  6. I am so glad that Indy is doing better. Great photos, especially the ones of the snow and of the monks. You do know that you were the person who first piqued my interest in Chiang Mai. I look forward to seeing more photos in 2016 of your new town and, if I remember correctly, Spain.

    • Hi Michele. Apologies for so late in responding to your comment. My life is a whirlwind of students and marking right now! Yes, I am thrilled that Indy is doing so well. I was really worried about her this summer. Hopefully, next semester will not be quite so daunting and I’ll have more time for getting out an about in Seoul, and blogging about it. Actually, 5 days in Barcelona, and then taking the train to Lisbon, then heading to the Algarve for a month. Not sure what I am doing after that. I think I’ll probably move slowly back towards Barcelona for my flight out on February 22. 🙂

  7. I love that shot of the ladies dressed in traditional Hanbok. I\’m often too shy to ask people to pose for photos but it\’s so worth it to get a photo like that!

    • Hi Michele. These young ladies were very happy to comply. Something tells me that they may have been in that spot for that exact reason!
