Pictou Harbour Sunset

During my temporary stay in Pictou, I was treated to some lovely sunsets on the harbour front. I liked the fact that the sailboat was always there. I think it added a nice balance to both photos.

Fort Anne National Historic Site

This sunset over the Annapolis Basin was taken from Fort Anne. This area has been fortified since 1629 and is one of Canada first designated National Historic Sites. Fort Anne closes for the season at the end of September, but like the Historic Gardens, you can still walk the grounds. I had to do a sprint down St. George St. to get this shot before the sun faded into the black of the night 🙂

This is Sieur de Mon’s Monument, who was a Governor of Nova Scotia between 1603 and 1607 when it was known as Acadie.

LaHave River Ferry

These two shots were taken from the LaHave Ferry when I was crossing from the town of LaHave to East LaHave.  This is a cable ferry and if you have never been on one don’t miss the experience if you’re in the area. There has been a ferry on this route since the 1800s. Check here for more information.

  1. These are beautiful photos! I am sure we are going to experience more of Cananda now that you live there! #TPThursday

    • Hi, Ruth. Thanks. You’ll see a lot of Canada photos for the foreseeable future. I do hope to travel later in the winter. Time will tell 🙂

  2. What a great collection of sunsets! I love the colors on the first one. Lucky you for being close enough to capture these beautiful sunsets.

    • Hi Mary! I should have caught more, but I usually realized too late. That’s what happens when you live close, I guess 🙂

  3. I like the first photo of the Pictou Harbour sunset (panoramic). The colours reflected in the glassy water with the lone sailboat at anchor make me smile

  4. Beautiful sunsets! I can never resist a good sunset, especially when I’m out on the water. It is the perfect end to the day.

  5. Sunsets get me every time – and it looks like Nova Scotia has some beautiful ones from your photos. My favorite is the sailboat photo with the muted colors on the water!
