Sunset Shots
Who doesn’t love to capture jaw-dropping sunset shots? Welcome to week 336 (7/13/2017) of Travel Photo Thursday. I am in the midst of purging, shipping, and selling seventeen years of my life as Indy and I get ready to make the move back to Canada on August 8th. Please enjoy a few of the amazing sunset shots I’ve taken in my travels over the years.

LaHave River Sunset Shot
My home province of Nova Scotia is no stranger to some amazing sunsets. I took this shot from the deck of a ferry as we made the short crossing. This was a gorgeous end to a picture perfect day on the province’s South Shore.
Cenang Beach, Langkawi
If you ever want to get away from it all, Malaysia’s Langkawi Island is the perfect tropical paradise. White sand Cenang Beach is probably the busiest beach on the Island and offers up the most amazing sunsets. I made a point of being on the beach every night to capture the stunning colours and no two sunsets were ever alike. This is my favourite from my week of sunset shots on the island.
Gilli Meno Sunset
Malaysia’s Gilli Islands are also the perfect place to watch the day end. The are no real roads on Gilli Meno and you can walk around the entire island in 45 minutes and that’s a slow stroll. I always timed my walk to be at this spot with my camera to capture the brilliant orange hues as the sun set.
Sunset over the Danube
Considered one of the world’s most beautiful cities, when you’re in Budapest be on the banks of the Danube River for a least one sunset. I love how the historic church is silhouetted against the orange sky in this sunset shot. Budapest is also a city I could visit again and again and never tire of wandering the streets or sipping coffee in one of the city’s quaint cafes.
Luxor at Sunset
One of the highlights of my travels through Egypt was the city of Luxor. By day I was awed the Valley of the Kings and in the evening the city boasts a beautiful esplanade overlooking the Nile River where I caught the sun setting.
That’s it for this week. It’s back to the real world to continue the packing. The next sunset I get to savour will probably be in Canada and I can’t wait.

Well I think the Cenang Beach sunset is such a riot of colour I’d have to choose it. But I do love the solid block of gold on the Budapest skyline. I’m so excited for your shift home, but I do know the drama of shedding possessions all too well. When we left Townsville after 33 years living in our own homes (we did shift once but kept everything) I am pretty sure we disposed of more than we kept. I’m mostly happy about that although occasionally I wish I’d kept something. Have fun!
I know it’s hard to pick a favorite. I love them all. Well, this is my second time doing a major shift. I don’t have as much this time as I do the first time, but still enough to make it a CHORE. The 30plus heat doesn’t help either. 23 more days!
There really is nothing better than a colourful sunset (well maybe a colourful sunrise!) Your photos are gorgeous and it is lovely to see a variety from all around the world.

I took a break tonight in our downsizing and dumping (our summer’s goal) and what a project it has turned out to be. 37 years of yours, mine, ours and deceased relative’s accumulations. So it was so pleasant to take a deep breath and slowly scroll through those beautiful sunsets and remind myself of all the places I still want to get to and watch the sun set on those far distant horizons. Hang in there – you aren’t alone with the cleaning!!!

That sunset on Langwaki was amazing. I have to stop by the beach and watch the sunset more often. Sometime we can see the beautiful clouds from our apartment but it is not the same. #TPThursday

Oh my, sunsets. I’m such a sucker for them (but then… I don’t trust people who aren’t!). The best sunsets were definately either on Naxos (Greece) or in Cuba. Though I once had an apartment here in Utrecht, which was on the top floor and it felt like sunset extravaganza up there all the time 🙂 Anyway, I am new to the linkup, so I hope I did it well. Off to explore some new blogs, yay!
Welcome, Esther! I’m glad you found us. You’re absolutely right! I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say anything bad about a beautiful sunset. They’re kind of like a happy pill. 🙂
I love all those orange skies. Seeing the Malaysia photos really makes me miss that country. It’s been 3 years since I left. My husband still goes back twice a year, but I have yet to return. (Lucky guy, hubby goes to Hungary twice a year, too.) I wonder if you’ll also be missing expat life in Korea when you are settled back in Canada. Good luck with all the packing and shipping.
Love how you captured the sunset differently per place.. My favorite here would be the one in Langkawi because of the perfect combination of colors.. Looking at these photos makes me want to practice and learn more about photography, so I can also take lovely pictures like these in the future.. In love with the picture from Budapest. It’s been on our travel list for awhile and this sunset just makes me want to visit even more. I love the idea of using a theme, like sunsets, for an entire post. It gives you an opportunity to showcase so many beautiful countries. Thanks for sharing!
Each sunset photo is more spectacular than the last, Nancie but wow, Malaysia goes all out for the colors! Good luck on the packing. I imagine that leaving your adopted home has got to be hard with all your amazing memories but a new life (and a new home) in a place you are familiar with will be a terrific experience too!
