Welcome, and thanks for dropping into another week of Travel Photo Thursday. The semester continues to be one of the most challenging I have encountered in a good many years. One way I relax and “forget it all” is too look at beautiful photography. Sometimes it’s my own, and sometimes the photo belongs to someone else. Today, I am sharing with you two sunset shots that I captured on the same Langkawi beach. The shots were taken 1 day apart, and both are very different, and each, in their own way, very soothing. By the way, a lot of you know that I started the 21 day meditation challenge with Oprah and Deepak. I did finish the 21 days, and I enjoyed it immensely. Highly recommended, for anyone who wants to begin or continue a meditation practice.
To join in the Travel Photo Thursday fun simply post a photo on your blog. Return here and place your link in the Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post.
Please post a link to a post featuring a travel photo, not simply a link to your blog.
The Twitter hash tag for Travel Photo Thursday is #TPThursday.

Sunset on Cenang Beach, Langkawi’s premier what sand beach…(Some of you might remember this shot from a past Travel Photo Thursday) 🙂

What a difference a day makes! Taken from almost the exact same spot as the shot above.
Traveler’s Tip
Malaysia’s Langkawi is an easy destination to get to. I flew in on Air Asia, and there are probably other budget airlines that offer flights as well. The island offers good accommodation in every price range. Food is good, and cheap. Cenang Beach is amazingly beautiful. I loved the “personality” of this gorgeous stretch of sand. One section (if you went left) was busy with lots of vendors and folks having fun on the beach. If you walked to the right, the beach was pristine and absolutely quiet. Lots of high end beach hotels on this end of the beach, so I think the “masses” were discouraged from playing in the sand 🙂

No two sunsets alike, though both of these are gorgeous.
Thanks, Sophie. Sunsets are like snow flakes…each one is unique.
Both are wonderful shots, but I like the first one better. It looks more romantic and has more…shall we say…atmosphere.
Hi Aleah…thanks! The first one is my favorite too.

Wow, those are stunning shots! I like the deep saturated colors on the first one but I like also like subtle gold-ish color on the second one. If you didn’t mention, I wouldn’t have guess they were the same beach.
Glad to hear your meditation challenge went well.
It is amazing the difference a day can make!
Ahhh, who can’t be entranced by a great sunset? I love the different colours and it would be easy to assume that the photos were taken at different beaches. Thanks for hosting TP Thursday, Nancie, it’s always such a pleasure to have Thursdays to look forward to 🙂
You’re welcome Johanna. It’s nice to have you drop by every week. I really enjoy reading your posts as well.
Those do indeed look like different beaches. I really like the shots of golden light in the first photo. Somehow, I have never been to Langkawi, even though it’s just a 45 minute flight or 3 hour ferry from where I live. One of my friends here goes there so often that she says it’s the equivalent of their “going to the lake house” weekends back in the States.
If you like the beach, give it a try. If I lived closer I’d be there often, like your friend. It is such a great island to unwind on.
Well I love them both – I don’t think that I could ever get tired of looking at sunset photos! Congrats on completing the meditation challenge too!
Lisa, sunsets or sunrises…I love them both!
The first is a stunner. In the second the sun is higher. Maybe the colours would have deepened in this shot later on?
Thanks, Jan. I took those shots so long ago not that I can’t really remember how the sunset progressed with the second one.
Both are gorgeous Nancie but what a different mod they both convey. Good luck getting through the rest of the term
Thanks Leigh. The semester is going fast, and I am looking forward to the end.
I just love the first photo… there’s a lot of energy in those colors (^_^)
I agree, lots of energy there 🙂
Love these sunset pictures but my favorite has to be that first one. The colors are absolutely beautiful! Congratulations on finishing your 21 day meditation challenge and happy that it was worth it for you. You probably need a nice relaxing beach vacation after this semester 🙂
You are so right
Kalispera (good afternoon from Greece! Your photos are stunning Nancie. Will try to view more of everyone’s posts but again internet is sporadic in this remote country. I hope to find more regular connections soon!
Hi Jackie, so pleased to have you drop by. I know what it’s like to have a slow Internet connection. I hope you are having a fantastic time in Greece!
Not much better than enjoying beautiful sunsets! Both of these are wonderful shots but it is amazing how different they are.
Hi Debbie…Thanks for your kind words. I can remember how surprised I was when I downloaded these two shots. Even though I had checked them in the camera, and I hadn’t expected them to be so different.
Oh yay! i’m going there next month! can’t wait!
You lucky girl! Take a beautiful sunset shot for me!
Great shots, Nancie, very moody. I love taking sunset photos but I doubt I’ve taken shots at different times of day at the same spot.
Glad you enjoyed the meditation. Did you take the second one as well?
I always find it interesting to visit the same location on different days same time. I didn’t realize that there was a second round of meditation. I’ll have to check that out. I am trying to continue on my own.
Beautiful shots! I so love sunsets. They are different no matter where you go, time of year, weather and so on. Fascinating to me! That beach looks gorgeous. Glad you got through your meditation challenge. I think I would have a hard time doing that.
Sere, it is a gorgeous beach; great for walking or relaxing. The meditation challenge was much easier than I thought it would be.
It’s been gray here the last few days around sunset, so I’m going to bask in yours instead!
Margaret…I’m glad I could brighten up your day 🙂
Sunsets are always beautiful and so is these two photos. I love the first one more for its colors.
Thanks, Salika. I love those colors as well.
love sunsets No mater where you are in the world they are amazing – although I notice being on the west coast feels very different than being on the east coast of usa
Hi Eileen…I agree. Sunsets in Nova Scotia (where I grew up) are very different than British Columbia.
Amazing how different they are — but both gorgeous and peaceful. Great shots.
Thanks, Cathy. The beauty of sunsets, no two alike. 🙂
The first shot is terrific!
Thanks, Dick. Definitely one of my favorites.

That first shot makes me long for warmer weather and a trip to the beach! Beautiful!
Me too, Tonya! It is still too cold here in Korea!
Stunning photos – sorry it took me a few days to get back around. I always appreciate you linking up!
Thanks, Becca. Sometimes I do miss linking up, but I try :)I always enjoy your Friday Day Dreamin’
we adored Langkawi when we visited a few years ago. Our hotel wasn’t on the tourist strip and was set in beach front jungle and absolutely gorgeous. I would love to go back.
Looks (and sounds) like a beautiful destination, Nancie!
