Through the Sandbox Lens #31, The Largest Buddhist Temple in South East Asia

Last Updated on May 27, 2011 by Nancie

When visiting Penang treat yourself to the best views of the largest Buddhist temple in South East Asia; Kek Lok Si Temple. Don’t worry you won’t have to walk up the  hill. A tram car will take you to the top. A day spent visiting Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si Temple is a great day trip for the budget traveler. A bus from downtown and the tram ride will set you a back a couple of dollars. Entrance to the temple is free.

  2. I loved this temple. We went during Chinese New Year and it was all lit up with thousands of lanterns. Beautiful. How did you get this aerial shot?

  3. Oh, I love how the bright (not-found-in-nature) orange contrasts with the colors on that hill!

  4. Beautiful temple. It looks amazing! The color is wonderful.I am imagining of shaolin masters in the temple.

  5. Wow! I had never heard of this temple until now. It’s beautiful, and I love that you captured a view from above.
