Sunset at Gili Meno
Gili Meno is the second largest Gili Island, which isn’t saying much! You can walk around the island in about 45 minutes. If you’re tired, there are lots of horse and buggys for hire. This was taken at the tip of the island. I made the quick trek every night to get a front row seat at “Sunset Theatre”. That is Lombok in the distance.

Cenang Beach, Langkawai
Cenang Beach is a fabulous stretch of beach on Langkawai Island. I stayed about
a two minute walk away and made sure I was on hand to view the sunset every night. No two sunsets were the same during that week.
Cenang Beach definitely has two personalities. If you turn left, you’ll find yourself on what I called the “common folks” beach. This stretch of sand was crowded with lots to do and a little on the shabby side. Now if you turned right, you ended up on the stretch reserved for “rich folks”. In reality the entire beach is public. The sand was white and perfect. Not a grain was out of place, and most of the beach chairs at the expensive resorts that fronted this stretch of the beach were empty.

Angkor Wat Sunrise
You have to get up VERY early if you want to catch an amazing sunset here. My advice, be prepared to hang around for at least an hour and a half after the sunrise begins. Just when you think the sun has risen something magical will make your eyes pop.

Jimbaran Beach, Bali
With no thanks to our crazy driver that day, we were awed by this magnificent Bali sunset.

Wow Nancie, these are seriously beautiful!
Thanks Jools. Now, I have to stop being so lazy about getting up early and add some more sunrises to my collection 🙂
the photos of Cenang Beach are great, it makes me want to write a poem. you have a great eye for photography
Hi Zablon….Thank you! I really do enjoy taking sunrise/sunset shots.
beautiful photos, Nancie! I find it very challenging to take interesting sunset photos — maybe you could teach me a thing or two? 🙂
Thank you Margo!
One of things that works for me is to be patient. (not that easy…..haha). A good sunrise or sunset can last up to 1.5 to 2 hours. I stay for their entirety. When you least expect it that’s when something spectacular will usually happen. You can’t rush mother nature 🙂
Incredible!! Great eye and reflection use…. we are especially fond of the sunset in Korea photo 🙂
Glad to have run into you through TBEX and looking forward to your next post!

Thanks Carrie and Ben. Glad you liked the shots.
really love the color in these shots. You should consider posting in larger sizes – these would look even better, bigger! Thanks for sharing them.
These are great! One of my favorite things about traveling is seeing the sun set from a different point on earth 🙂
Super gorgeous photos, Nancie!!! The first of Cenang Beach is my favourite, the composition is great, the color is so rich. Love it!!
