Welcome to Week 259 (12/17/2015) of Travel Photo Thursday! My head feels a bit like mush today. I have the beginnings of a head cold (which I am working hard to get rid of), and I am in the middle of my final marking for the semester. Enough said! This week I have decided to randomly open four different travel photo albums on my Flickr account, and post the seventh photo in each album. Why the seventh photo? No real reason, except that I happen to like the number seven!
We’re pretty easy going here at BTS, but please remember to follow a few guidelines…

This first photo comes from the album Baan Daum/Black House. The Black House, located in Chiang Rai, Thailand, is definitely one of the weirdest places I have ever visited. The complex is full of animal bones, and the seventh photo in this album just happens to be an elephant skeleton!

Next I opened the album Bongwonsa Temple, Seoul, and the lucky seven shot is this cute lion among the lotus blossoms at Bongwonsa Temple in downtown Seoul. I have fond memories of an afternoon spent here taking shots of all the beautiful lotus blossoms.
The seventh photo in our third album is making me drool. These delicious baguettes can be found in Madrid’s Mercado San Miguel, and definitely one of my favorite European markets. I may stop in Madrid this winter just to sample some more of the mercado’s fantastic food and wine!
In number seven spot in our fourth, and final, album, Sunrises and Sunsets, we have an awesome Koh Lanta sunset. Back in 2007 I spent 2 weeks in this tropical paradise, and I never tired of the sunsets and sunrises.

hmm…not sure I would want to visit the Black House. But your sunset shot is wonderful. It looks almost like a painting. Canvas worthy to be sure.

I am with Jill, love this idea of somewhat random selection. When I am seeking a specific photo it seems I get sidetracked looking at others that bring back memories so I may have to also try something similar! Get well, you’ve got to be healthy for your upcoming adventures!
Hi Jackie. Thanks! The idea came to me out of the blue. I have so many shots that need to be dusted off and shown to the world. I might do this more often. I seem to be winning the cold battle, but I won’t say that out loud too often!

The lion amongst the lotus is my favourite Nancie. I like the random nature of your shots. I dont use Flickr – maybe I should?
Hi Jan! These lion statues are quite common here in temples. I think the stands out very nicely among the lotuses. I’ve used Flickr for years. I’ve never had any problems with them, although I am still finding their recent revamp a little difficult to navigate. You can always give it a try, and it’s free!

Well, I see that Mercado San Miguel has left an impression on you. Love that you are dedicating an album to it. To be honest, the mercado is hard to forget. I long to go back. I like the sunsets album too. I have to go to the beach to try to capture some.

This was a great idea for a photo post, Nancie. It turned out to be a great collection. I love the cute lion among the lotus blossoms. A close second are those baguettes only because I love Mercado de San Miguel. Lucky you if you get to stop by. I’m taking a break next week so have a Happy Holiday season and safe travels! Great post idea, Nancy and I imagine it was pleasant trip down memory lane. I loved your photo of the baguettes. There’s just something about fresh bread that makes me breathe deep and your pic of the baguettes evokes the memory of the yeasty aroma in a bakery. MMMM!
Hi Anita. I agree! There is nothing like that fresh bread smell. I live quite close to a bakery and I go out of my way to walk by just so that I can breath deep! 🙂
The sunset photo is my favourite, but the bones piqued my interest in Baan Daum/Black House. It looks a bit creepy, but also fascinating.
Hi Donna. Yes, the Black House is creepy. Bones and other dead critters all over the place. It’s one of those places you really have to see to believe!
