Travel Photo Thursday — 08/07/14 — Golden Moments at Batu Ferringhi, Penang

Last Updated on August 7, 2014 by Nancie

Hi everyone, and welcome to week 188 of Travel Photo Thursday. I haven’t been around much in recent weeks The thing is, I did have the best of intentions. It’s been one of those months of what can go wrong will go wrong. The Internet connections here sucks, and for some weird reason my Lightroom program refuses to import my photos. On a grateful note, I do have an Internet connection, and another program for importing photos! I went to the beach this week, and stayed for the glorious sunset. Have a look!

To join in the Travel Photo Thursday fun simply post a photo on your blog.

Return here and place your link in the Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post.

Please post a link to a post featuring a travel photo, not simply a link to your blog.

The Twitter hashtag for Travel Photo Thursday is #TPThursday.

Sixty cents and a thirty minute bus ride from Georgetown will set you up for a day at the beach. Pick up either Bus 101 or 102 at Weld Quay or Komtar, and ask the driver to let you off at Batu Ferringhi. Be sure to have the correct change, as the drivers do not. Be prepared for a windy, narrow road, and one that is often marred with traffic jams. Once you’re there you’ll say it was worth the ride!

  1. we are going to Penang in October and staying along Batu Ferranghi. Looking forward to a week of doing not much. Do you have a Penang “must do” list?
    Happy travels.

    • Hi Jill! Lucky you. Give me some time, and I will get back to you. This Internet connection is so lousy that I haven’t posted a whole lot (as you know!)

  2. I am already missing the beaches of Penang,so thank you so much for taking me there vicariously today. That windy road up to Batu Ferringhi was the very first road I drove in Penang. I was freaking out the entire time, certain that I’d end up tumbling down the cliff into the water, especially if a big bus was coming the other way.

    • Hi Michele! My pleasure. That road is not for the faint of heart. I was glad to be on a bus, with someone else driving!

  3. Ahhh, these sunsets are indeed golden, Nancie.
Glad your Internet connection is back. What new photo application are you using?

    • Hi Marcia! The connection is back, but still not the best. I have a copy of Photoshop elements 10, so I am okay in a pinch, but I do prefer Lightroom. I have stopped fiddling with it, though. That’s something to sort out when I get back to Daejeon.

  4. Amazing sunsets! The beaches look beautiful. Slow internet can be so frustrating, but as you say, at least you have some sort of connection! Hope it improves soon 🙂

  5. Hi Nancie, they are glorious sunset shots indeed. The “gliding through the sunset” photo is absolutely stunning, Thanks for taking us the the beautiful beach of Penang. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

  6. How frustrating is slow internet? Sixty cents is a great price for a day at the beach. I hope you ate something delicious and photographed it whilst there 🙂

  7. I always adore your sunset photos and these are just gorgeous. I’m glad you go to enjoy the beaches. Hope things get better for you especially with Internet connection. Safe travels, Nancie!

  8. I tried leaving a comment this morning and couldn’t get it to work so will try again tonight. I hear you with the technology – Greece was a total frustration with weak or no signals and when we hit Athens the hotel charged for the internet (at the price we paid, it should have been free) And the adaptor – even though grounded – heated up the chargers to the point I thought the computer and phone would melt. But a sunset always balances out the discomfort caused by computers, doesn’t it? Beautiful photos.

  9. Nancie, I would be really cranky without my Lightroom. Hope all gets better soon. Your beachy sunsets are gorgeous! Hope you relaxed!
