The sun rises around 6:40 am in Chiang Mai during the winter. My window looks out onto a temple and a chedi spire. That, combined with the sun, produces some lovely sun rise shots. This mornings sun rise was particularly nice.

Traveler’s Tip…
If you want some interesting shots of Chiang Mai, get up and out before 7am. just when the city is waking up. You’ll discover early morning food carts, monks doing morning alms, and the temples waking up. AND…it is so peaceful!
Here are some early morning shot that I took last year in Chiang Mai.

What an incredible sunrise! Who wouldn’t want to rise early to be rewarded with a view like that?
Beautiful photo, Nancie! I’m not much of a morning person but I think a view like that would make getting up feel much better!
Lisa, for me, there is nothing like a beautiful sunrise to get the energy flowing!
One of the nicest ones we’ve had in the past week. My reward for getting up early!
What beautiful colors! That would get me up in the morning too.
Love the colors, too!
Goodness, what a gorgeous sunrise!
How, can we not love nature, eh? And so often, we can enjoy it free of charge!
What a wonderful view to have out your window, Nancie! Magnificent light in your capture of it here. Hope all else is just as delightful for your stay there.
Thank you, Andrew. I’m having a wonderful winter break. Enjoying Thailand and Chiang Mai.
