Welcome to week 234 (06/25/2105) of Travel Photo Thursday. It’s been a busy end of semester week (all finished…yay), and Indy is sick (poor girl). Her hair is falling out badly (she has no hair left on her hind legs, and there is a big bald patch on her right leg), so I took her to the vet, who subscribed medication and ointment. Getting the pills into the poor thing has been a challenge. We go back to the vet tomorrow, or we might wait until Monday. I want to see how she is after a few stress free no med days. Things happen for a reason. If this had been a normal summer, I would have been getting ready to head out for a summer of travel, and there’s no way I could have gone anywhere and have left a sick Indy behind! This week I am sharing one shot with you, and it was taken during my travels close to home.

In the past year at least four new coffee shops have sprouted up in my little neigbourhood. I walk by this cafe a lot, and the sign stenciled on their window always makes me giggle. Koreans can get rather inventive when it comes to English.

I definitely think ‘upplay’ should be added to the English dictionary!

I guess after I have my coffee shortly will be perked up for upplay.
Hi Sally…That sounds right 🙂
Considering that I am nearly incoherent before my morning coffee, I really cannot judge whoever invented the word “upplay”. Funny. I hope your dear Indy is on the mend soon.
Hi Michele. I used to drink coffee in the morning, but now tea gives me my upplay. It’s coffee in the afternoon. Fingers are crossed with Indy. I’ll be taking her back to the vet early next week. I think he wanted to see her today, but she’s been so stressed. I want to give her a few days to calm down.
I love a business that doesn’t ‘downplay’ what their product can do for you! Great post. Hope Indy is feeling better soon. We left for the US on Tuesday and I’ve been fretting about Tom and Mom and the Cat Family ever since! Hope our gardener really does put out the food he promised to do!
Hi Jackie. Yep, makes me want to go right in and buy a cup! Indy is a worry…not really sure what is going to happen…fingers crossed. I can imagine how much you’re fretting over yours. I’m sure the gardener will watch out for them 🙂
I’m not sure if coffee has an upplay effect on me but the photo made me giggle. I love crazy foreign English.
Hi Phoebe. I drink tea first thing in the morning. The sign is such a great giggle.
Always good to have something new and exciting to visit in the neighborhood and make it a regular spot
Hi Noel. For sure! New is always fun!
This is funny. I am trying to quit coffee since I was drinking 3 cups a day. So, walking around your neighborhood would be a temptation. Hope things get better.
Hi Ruth. Thanks and I hope that your coffee resolution sticks!
Ha ha, yes you do see some really strange English spelling and phrases throughout Asia. I am about to go have to go and have a “perk you upplay” coffee now! Hope your girl will be ok 🙂
Hi Kathy. I hope you enjoyed your coffee. Fingers are crossed here for Indy.
Hi Nancie, We have been travelling for 10 weeks and soon will be home. I love the sayings that appear in coffee shops too. Japan has some good ones. Hope Indie recovers soon. How come you’re not travelling this summer holiday?
Hi Jan! I’ve been checking out your photos on FB. You have been to some great places over the last little while. Your giving me ideas for some travel. I’m moving to Seoul. I have a new job for September. I have to get the apartment in Daejeon packed up and moved into a new apartment. Right now I am busy throwing stuff out. Hopefully, I’ll be able to start looking at apartments soon. Koreans are very last minute about renting. Landlords pretty much want someone to move in the next day…(IMO..dumb)! Looking forward to the move and the new job. I will definitely be planning a good long trip this winter.
That is exciting Nancie – Seoul no doubt will keep you busy for a long time. I imagine the food options will be amazing and am feeling jealous. We found an asian fusion restaurant in Dubrovnik Old Town which I may do a post on. We ate there last night which was our “Last Night” in Dubrovnik. The food was gorgeous.
Hi Jan. I’m excited. There is so much to see, do, and eat in Seoul. After 10 years in a ‘tiny’ city of 1.5 mil it’s going to be a big change (for the better!)
It’s always fun to see how foreigners play on words. Sometimes I could use that upplay. This was cute! I hope you enjoy your summer and Indy feels better soon.
Hi Mary. Thanks. Definitely going to be a different summer. Packing up is never fun, but I’m also planning to do some stuff here that I normally would get to do in the summer.
Hahah I taught ESL for three years and will always get a giggle out of these funny/creative sentences! Thanks for hosting!
Hi Lo. There is never an end to the creative English!
Feeling quite upplay already as I sip on my cuppa and read through you blog post 🙂
Well I’ve added upplay to my dictionary and will start using it at work just to watch the confused looks on coworkers faces.
