I’m really sorry to say we missed visiting Sukhothai when we were in Thailand this past January. Was the Buddha once all covered in gold paint or gold leaf? Most of the restored Buddhas we saw, were at least painted gold. We did, however, have the chance to visit the ruined old capital of Ayunttaya (sp?).
