- The prix fix menu included numerous beverages. I decided on the half bottle of red wine; full bodied and smooth.

Internet connections seem to be my nemesis this trip, so please forgive me if I haven’t been to your blog as often as I would like.

My intent today was to take a long walk and find a new beach. I managed to do both, and find a lovely little restaurant serving up a perfect Prix Fix Menu!
My new beach was the lovely Praia Maria Luisa. The beach is a lovely sandy cove with cliffs that have steps and trails going to top. The views are worth the climb!
If you look closely, you can see the archway in the cliff. This shot was taken from ground level.
Now, if you look at this shot, which was taken from the top of the cliff, you can see the round crater like hole and the back of the archway. I like the differences from the two vantage points.
I love those weird looking trees on top of the cliffs, and they’re quite common here.
The walking, climbing, and sea air had me thinking about lunch. I hiked back up to the road and decided to continue along to Olhao D’Aqua. I soon found myself staring at 3 restaurants strung along the highway. Two were open, and I chose the 3 Marias. I think it was the brightly colored table clothes that caught my eye, and it wasn’t as crowded as the other one.
I arrived shortly after 2pm and there were still a few people dining. The restaurant closes at 3pm, and I was the last to leave. Don’t you love the table clothes?!
This is one of the freshest salads I have ever eaten. I would not have been surprised to see the kitchen staff picking and preparing the vegetables as they were ordered. I added a tiny bit of olive oil and some pepper. Outstanding!
I’ve been eating a lot of fish here in Portugal. It’s just so fresh and delicious, and the Portuguese preparation techniques are high on keeping the flavors intact. Also, the nuclear power plant accidents in Japan make me think twice of eating fish caught in Asian waters.
I love sole fillets, and this is the first time I have seen them on offer anywhere outside of Canada. They were cooked to melt in your mouth perfection, and I savored every morsel.
Meat choices were also available.
The Portuguese know how to make pie. This apple tart was just sweet enough, and accompanying whipped cream was the real thing!
A prix fix menu provides a delicious meal at a great price. This menu was 12.50 Euro, and at least from what I am seeing, that seems to be a the high end for many of the restaurants here in this part of the Algarve. However, the food quality was excellent, and I think good value.
