My first trip to mainland China is in June. I’ve heard lots about the pollution. Hopefully, it won’t be as bad as I’ve read.

@ Hi Graham….Yes, I love the shopping bag “trick” too. If I forget to pack one, I have a good excuse to go out and buy one. I have some great heavy cotton bags complete with designs that I bought at JJ’s in Bangkok for less than 100baht each.

I agree with the environment abuse that you see in South East Asia. I was in Thailand four years ago and I remember the level of pollution in Bangkok. It was bad in China too.

Thanks for the reminder about Earth Day, Nancie. I have been to Kuta Beach as well and was appalled by the amount of plastic floating in the water. One of the little things I do is to carry shopping bags with me around the world and use them. It’s small but it helps.

I’m with you on the no car. I haven’t driven in years. Korean drivers are maniacs….(TRUE!) I walk whenever possible.

Sadly, I don’t get a lot of light in my apartment. i probably use more electricity than I like.

@Dina…..Hi Dina! Thanks for the lovely comments on the new blog. I’m not finished yet, but will get there. My lack of “geekness” makes it a challenge. I’ve decided that I want to be a geek when I grow up….haha.

Yes, using cloth bags for groceries is something I try to do as well. Sometimes I forget, but getting better at always having a bag inside the bad I’m already carrying.

I think only taking what we’ll use is a great way to help the environment. For me it has become automatic to return anything I know I won’t use.
