Alvor is a quaint little seaside village in Portugal’s Algarve, and home to at least one super cute guard dog. Welcome to week 281 (6/9/2016) of Travel Photo Thursday. My brain is mush after interviewing 60+ students the last two days, and hearing about their final presentations. Those happen next week. This is the shortest Travel Photo Thursday in a while, but I think you will like it.
We’re pretty easy going here at BTS, but please remember to follow a few guidelines…
To join in the Travel Photo Thursday fun simply post a photo on your blog.

I love the dog and cat culture of Europe. When I was in Portugal and Spain I was always coming across cats hanging out in the sunshine, and they all looked very well cared for. Dogs are always being walked. Owning a pet and living in an apartment doesn’t seem to be an issue. This brings me to my little minibus jaunt to the lovely seaside village of Alvor. I hopped off the bus and decided to head up the hill. After admiring the village church I headed down towards the water. Ambling through the lovely little streets I looked up and here was the hind end of a white dog standing on a balcony. I kept snapping as I headed down and hill and here is my favorite shot of this cute little guy guarding the family balcony. He was definitely interested in me and my snapping, but he never made a sound. Made me wonder if guard dog was not his chosen profession 🙂 Isn’t he cute?
Alvor’s cute dogs…
On a side note, the village is lovely. I was so busy walking along the inner harbor and the marsh that I never did make it to the main beach (perfect reason to go back). The paddlers were having a great time!
I also dined on the best grilled octopus ever!
Have you been to Alvor? What did you think?
