Windows

Windows and doors are favorite photo ops when I’m traveling, and I know I’m not alone. Welcome to Week 280 (6/2/2106) of Travel Photo Thursday. The end of the semester will dominate the next few weeks, so little time for anything else. This post will not be particularly wordy. I think that the beautiful windows speak for themselves. Enjoy!

We’re pretty easy going here at BTS, but please remember to follow a few guidelines…

To join in the Travel Photo Thursday fun simply post a photo on your blog.

Return here and place your link in the Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post.

I loved the windows in Prague and managed to come away with several beautiful shots. These two I took in the Old Town, where it’s next to impossible to walk more than 30 seconds without taking a photo or two.

Gorgeous symmetry! Prague is also really big on window boxes with lots of lovely details.

Prague and Budapest Memories

Posted by on Nov 19, 2015 in Budapest, Czech - Prague, Destinations, Featured, Hungary, Travel Photo Thursday | 37 comments

Welcome to week 255 of Travel Photo Thursday (11/19/2015). If you missed last weeks octopus eating adventures, they’re just a click away.  I think most of us are walking around with heavy hearts this week, trying to absorb and make some sense (as if that’s possible) of the atrocities and innocent lives lost this past week. My love affair with Europe began when I was 17 years old, plying the Mediterranean on a cruise ship giving many Canadian school kids their first taste of the rich history, and the ambiance that is so prevalent throughout that part of the world. Since moving to Asia in 2000, I have spent more time traveling the countries surrounding Korea.  I love Asia, and always will, but I have never left my heart in Asia as I have so often in Europe.  I have been fortunate enough to spend some time in Europe over the last few years, primarily Spain, Czech, and a peek of Budapest  thrown in. In a few weeks I’ll be  in Barcelona and Portugal. This week I share with you a few Prague and Budapest memories.

Budapest was a side trip from Prague, and I loved every moment. I hope one of these days to return and spend some time getting to know both the city and country a little bit more. I am anxious to explore the Hungarian vineyards.

Budapest: Favorite Photo Memories

Posted by on Sep 17, 2015 in Budapest, Hungary, Travel Photo Thursday | 41 comments

Welcome to week 246 of Travel Photo Thursday. Apologies that this post is so late, and that I haven’t been around much to comment or visit your sites. I finally got my computer back on Tuesday. While it is working, there are still some issues that I am trying to resolve with the computer tech. I can’t wait for things to get back to normal. In the meantime I want to share some of my  Budapest favorite photo memories.

Remember to leave your comment and link at the bottom! Magic will happen!

Summer Travel Dreams for Travel Photo Thursday

Posted by on May 7, 2015 in Budapest, Canada, Hungary, Nova Scotia, Travel Photo Thursday | 22 comments

Welcome to the 226th edition (07/05/2015) of Travel Photo Thursday. Summer is five weeks away, and for me it is one of transition. I may in Korea in September, maybe not. I have known for awhile that what it does mean is that there may not be any great travel adventures this coming summer. However, I know that this is just a temporary blip. If I could/can travel this summer, this where you would find me.

The first place…drum roll please (and as if you haven’t guessed) Nova Scotia to see my DAD…when I talk to him these days there seems to be an elephant in the room. I want to say I will see you this summer, but I know (at least at the moment) that I can’t. Here is a gorgeous Nova Scotia shot that I dug out from my archives…

Be sure to leave your link and comment at the bottom 🙂

LaHave River at sunset…

Lahave Sunset

If you’re ever in Nova Scotia, head to the south shore and take the cable ferry across the LaHave River. It’s a unique ride with some fab views.

Then, for something completely different I’d head to Budapest. The last time I was there they were having a blistering heatwave. In fact, on one of the days the city boasted the highest temperature anywhere in the world! Hopefully, it would be a wee bit cooler this time. I want to enjoy the hot spring bathes, and just wander through this city with its rough around the edges charm. I’d also make the time to see some other part of Hungary. I know that they have a thriving wine industry, which I would love to explore.

Budapest

Those are my summer travel dreams. What are yours?

Don’t forget to add your link and your comment below, and be sure to view some of the other great photos in the lineup this week!

Travel Photo Thursday — 7/03/14 — Windows on Europe

Posted by on Jul 3, 2014 in Budapest, Czech - Prague, Destinations, Hungary, Karlovy Vary, Travel Photo Thursday | 34 comments

Welcome to the 184th week of Travel Photo Thursday! I’m finishing my second week of summer school teaching, a 15 week course crammed into 3 weeks. Trust me, it’s brutal. I’m teaching a required basic English course that is designed to be fail proof! I do have a few students who are wonderful (not sure how they ended up here), but most of them would not react to a fire lit directly under their butts! I had originally planned to be in Europe this summer, but this summer school session put a damper on those plans. As thrilled as I am to be heading off to Penang in just over a week, there remains some wistful thinking directed at Europe. I love photographing windows and doors, and this week I bring you a few of my favorite windows from Hungary’s Budapest and Czech’s Karlovary.

To join in the Travel Photo Thursday fun simply post a photo on your blog.

My favorites from Budapest. Windows always set my imagination on fire…

I love the carving at the top. He looks more than a little ferocious!

So peaceful looking… A far cry from her “brother’ in the shot above:)

Mellow yellow in Budapest. Love how the light is striking the blind…

Colorful and detailed in Budapest. I am not a big lover of the color orange, but it definitely works with this window!

And to end this window on Europe, two of my favorite window shots from Czech’s picturesque Karlovy Vary…

What a blast of color from the shutters, and the blast of fuchsia…

Travel Photo Thursday — November 7, 2013 — My Travels During the Past 150 Posts

Posted by on Nov 7, 2013 in Budapest, Czech - Prague, Destinations, Hungary, Korea, Nova Scotia, Travel Photo Thursday | 28 comments

Welcome to another week of Travel Photo Thursday, and a special week it is! This is our 150th Travel Photo Thursday…(drum roll please)!! Hard to believe that this little link-up started back in December, 2009 on the first anniversary of Budget Travelers Sandbox. My first post is here.  The group has been pretty fluid, with people coming and going. We usually have between 20 and 30 photographers linking every week. Just as important, most of us comment and share each others weekly posts. Lovely friendships have formed. Two of our linkers have been with us from the very beginning. I could tell who they are, but let’s have some fun. Leave your guess in the comments, and try not to peek!

A big THANK YOU  to contributors, present and past,  to our weekly virtual photo journey. Without all of YOU this weekly meet-up would never have become such a great success. VIRTUAL HUGS TO ONE AND ALL!!

I’ve covered more than a few miles since our first Travel Photo Thursday. My camera has clicked in Canada, the U.S.A., Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Japan, China, Taiwan, Czech, Spain, Hungary since 2009. Of course, how can I forget my home way from home…KOREA.

To join in the Travel Photo Thursday fun simply post a photo on your blog.
